The latest edition of ELLE Magazine features Carrie Underwood on the cover and there are pictures inside of many of the Season 7 finalists.  Carrie Underwood discusses the rumors surrounding her and Olympic winner, Michael Phelps, and says that she has never met him even though there have been rumors the two have been dating.  She tells ELLE that the rumors about the two of them being involved is a “fabricated lie that came out of nowhere”. 
 
In the same edition of ELLE, the Season 7 top 10 Idol finalists get a makeover!  You can see pictures and a lengthy spread of –Michael Johns, Carly Smithson, David Cook, David Archuleta, Jason Castro, Chikezie, Brooke White, Kristy Lee Cook, Syesha Mercado, and Ramiele Malubay.

American Idol has definitely bore some great stars!  Former Idol winners, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks, and 4th place finisher, Chris Daughtry of Daughtry have all received American Music Award nominations.  Season 6 Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, received one AMA nomination while Carrie Underwood and Daughtry each received two nominations. 

Carrie Underwood’s very popular Carnival Ride CD is nominated for Favorite Country Album.  Carrie won an AMA Award in this category last year.  Underwood’s other nomination is for Favorite Female Country Artist, where she will be up against Taylor Swift and legend, Reba McEntire. 

Daughtry is nominated for both Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Pop or Rock Music Band, Duo, or Group. Jordin Sparks is nominated for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist.

Carrie Underwood will be hosting the 42nd Annual CMA Awards with country music star Brad Paisley on Wednesday, November 12th.  This will be a first for both Underwood and Paisley, as neither one of them have ever been hosts for this popular country music awards show. 

Even better yet?  Carrie Underwood will be performing and so will Brad Paisley!  I will definitely be watching this show just to hear Carrie sing.  I love to watch her perform. 

Along with her hosting and performing duties on the CMA Awards, Underwood also has a couple of nominations for awards.  She has been nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for Carnival Ride. 

American Idol has done a lot for country music!  Both Carrie Underwood and Kellie Pickler have been nominated for awards in the upcoming 42nd Country Music Association Awards. You will be able to watch the CMA Awards on November 12th on the ABC network at 8:00 p.m. Eastern/7:00 p.m. Central.

Both ladies have been very successful in their country music singing careers, especially Carrie Underwood.  This year nominations for each are:

• Female Vocalist of the Year
• Album of the Year (Carnival Ride)

Kellie Pickler…

• New Artist of the Year

These former American Idol contestants are up against other great country music singers like Martina McBride, Taylor Swift, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Rodney Adkins, Lady Antebellum and James Otto.

I reported yesterday on American Idol fan about how a “source” told OK! Magazine that Carrie Underwood called Jessica Simpson “fat”.  We all know by now that when it is reported that a “source” makes a claim like this, it usually isn’t true.  While I don’t know Carrie personally, she has never appeared to be the type of person to be so petty. I read an interesting post on the CMT blog that discusses the Underwood/Simpson controversy and the author says she doesn’t believe the “source” exists either. Why?

The OK! Magazine article “source” not only said that Carrie stated that Jessica was fat but also said this:

“Carrie doesn’t think fans will spend money to watch Jess warble through a few badly-written songs.”

The CMT blog states that they don’t believe this source exists because the people who wrote most of Jessica’s songs also wrote most of Underwood’s songs. Why would Carrie make a comment like that about her own songwriters? Very doubtful.

Carrie Underwood, who had dated Jessica Simpson’s boyfriend in the past, Tony Romo, has reportedly said that Jessica Simpson is fatter in a current OK! Magazine cover than she was in a previous People Magazine cover.   Allegedly Jessica & Carrie have had sort of a rift going on due to Carrie’s former relationship with Tony and the fact that she still keeps in contact with him.  Supposedly Jessica is jealous of this and has made her own comments to the press regarding Carrie. 

In a recent interview with OK! Magazine, Jessica “gushes” over how much in love she is with Tony.  She also says in the interview that she is unconcerned about Carrie’s claims of still receiving calls from Tony.  Jessica says that she checks his phone calls to see who he talks to.  A little insecure, aren’t we? 

A “source” (and we know how reliable they are!) states that:

“She (Carrie) finds Jessica’s love of putting her life on display pretty desperate,” a pal of the “Before He Cheats” singer tells OK!. “She laughed at the People cover, because it’s the same one Jess did about John Mayer — same smile, same look, except she’s a little fatter.”

Carrie Underwood is teaming up with many other singing stars such as Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Sheryl Crow and Melissa Etheridge to record “Just Stand Up” for the Stand Up To Cancer charity effort. Proceeds from the song, which will be available exclusively through iTunes, will go to charity. The song is being produced by the popular Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio “L.A.” Reid.

The famous female singing stars will debut the song during the Stand Up To Cancer fundraising event on ABC, CBS and NBC on Sept. 5.

Carrie tells OK! Magazine:

“It seems that everyone has been touched by cancer these days, whether it be a personal experience, a family member or friend, or their families. If by participating in this charity effort I entice just one person to give funds for cancer research, then it will be so worthwhile.”

Carrie Underwood, Season 4 American Idol winner, has has several achievements throughout her phenomenal country music career. She has won three Grammy Awards, two ACM awards for female vocalist of the year, and CMA female vocalist of the year.  Now Carrie has broken new records with ringtones.  Her hit song, Before He Cheats, sold a million ringtones.  This achievement has made Underwood only the second country music singer in history to have a song RIAA certified as a Platinum Mastertone.

Carrie now becomes the first country artist ever to have two songs hit Platinum Mastertone status with the Grammy-winning Jesus, Take the Wheel.
