American Idol has definitely bore some great stars! Former Idol winners, Carrie Underwood and Jordin Sparks, and 4th place finisher, Chris Daughtry of Daughtry have all received American Music Award nominations. Season 6 Idol winner, Jordin Sparks, received one AMA nomination while Carrie Underwood and Daughtry each received two nominations.
Carrie Underwood’s very popular Carnival Ride CD is nominated for Favorite Country Album. Carrie won an AMA Award in this category last year. Underwood’s other nomination is for Favorite Female Country Artist, where she will be up against Taylor Swift and legend, Reba McEntire.
Daughtry is nominated for both Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Favorite Pop or Rock Music Band, Duo, or Group. Jordin Sparks is nominated for Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist.
Congratulations to all three for their nominations!

Daughtry’s Feels Like Tonight…
The Asphalt’s Tonight…
Listen to both videos above and judge for yourself…did Daughtry steal Asphalt’s version of Tonight for their hit song, Feels Like Tonight? I don’t think so, but here’s some information from the story I found online.
The Asphalt’s band member, Randy Mazick, has recently sued Apple and Chris Daughtry. Mazick claims that Feels Like Tonight songwriters “lifts its hook” from The Asphalt’s song Tonight (written by Mazick) and infringes on the registered copyright. Apple is being included in the lawsuit because they distribute the song on iTunes.
I think it is common in the music world for songs to sound similar at times. Do you think they sound alike and do you think it was an intentional thing by Daughtry’s songwriters to copy another song?

I am a HUGE, HUGE fan of Chris Daughtry and I was shocked along with many others when he was eliminated from American Idol. I thought for sure that he would end up in the final two the season he was in the competition. But not winning the American Idol title didn’t hold Chris Daughtry back any!
I have the Daughtry CD and it’s a wonder we don’t have it worn out yet between me and my son. I love the song in the video above, What About Now. If you remember, the song was featured as part of Idol Gives Back in Season 7. Listen to the video and enjoy!
