American Idol Fan

OK Magazine is reporting that Paula Abdul may be leaving American Idol, or as they word it - “transitioning” her way out of the show to pursue several other television related projects.  A “source” (and we know how reliable the sources are!) says that Paula knows that every season could be her least and Paula Abdul has a new secret venture that she is very excited about.  Remember her reality show?  Hopefully if there is a new venture it will be better than that show was. 

I don’t believe that Abdul will be leaving American Idol anytime soon.  I think that with all of the latest scandal surrounding the suicide of Goodspeed near Abdul’s house has set Abdul up for press that she doesn’t want and a lot of it will be rumors and speculation.

Yesterday I reported the news that American Idol former auditioner, Paula Goodspeed, committed suicide near Paula Abdul’s house.  Since I wrote that post, I have been hearing on the news and other media sources that Goodspeed was a “stalker”.  Now the brother of Paula Goodspeed is speaking out and defending his sister by saying that she was NOT a stalker. 

Charles McIntyre said his sister moved to California five years ago to succeed as an actor or singer.  But he said when she went in front of the American Idol judges last season, it was over.   While McIntyre says that Goodspeed has been an Abdul fan since childhood, it wasn’t as excessive as they made it out to be on television.

A former American Idol auditioner, who was a huge Paula Abdul fan, was found dead in her car near the American Idol judge’s home on Tuesday. Paula Goodspeed, who was 30 years old, apparently committed suicide on Tuesday evening. Police are saying Goodspeed’s death was due to a drug overdose.

Goodspeed was found in her car with a picture of Paula Abdul hanging from her rear view mirror. Goodspeed was found after her mother reported her missing to the police. She told the police that her daughter was possibly suicidal.

Paula Abdul was reportedly not at home at the time of the suicide but she did release a statement expressing her sympathy.

If I were Paula Abdul, I would be pissed!  According to this article I read on MSNBC.com, Nigel Lythgoe reports that Simon Cowell is making a whopping $36 million a year on American Idol.  What is Paula Abdul making in comparison?  Abdul is raking in approximately $5 million - $8 million dollars a year.  That’s nothing to sneeze at but compared to Simon Cowell, that’s a rip off. 

The article says that Paula knew that Simon was making more money than her but she never realized he was making that much more.  I’m sure this can cause a lot of problems if she lets the news work on her emotionally.

According to current media reports, a new judge will be added to the line up for Season 8 of American Idol.  Kara DioGuardi, a Grammy-nominated songwriter, will be added to the current mix of judges we have been so used to all of these years.  How will adding another judge be helpful?  To me I think it will just create even more chaos and confusion among the judges and we will hear more meaningless “critiques”, if that is what you call them!

Don’t get me wrong…I like my American Idol, but I do get annoyed with Randy Jackson’s “dawgs”; Paula Abdul’s incoherent ramblings and Simon Cowell’s rudeness.  Now we have to listen to one more person who says that she is going to speak to Simon the way she does everybody.  I smell more drama!  Kara also told reporters today:

“I’m just gonna have my opinion, be honest and I don’t foresee any problems. I’m really excited about this, and up for the challenge.”

DioGuardi has written songs for superstars like Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, Christina Aguilera, and Kelly Clarkson.
