Taylor Hicks, the Season 5 American Idol winner, has announced that he will release his new album in February 2009.
The new album for Hicks will be released under his own label, Modern Whomp Records. The album is being produced by Simon Climie, who is known for his work with stars such as Eric Clapton, Faith Hill and Carlos Santana. The album will be distributed by independent music distributor, Artist to Artist. Hicks had this to say about his new album:
In this digital age, when artists can connect more directly with audiences, this is a partnership that makes a lot of sense. I’m very much enjoying being in the studio with Simon working on the new album and look forward to releasing it through A2M early next year.

Season 5 American Idol winner, Taylor Hicks, recently completed his Broadway run as Teen Angel in the musical, Grease. Now Taylor Hicks will be performing in the first national tour of the popular show. The show will launch at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Providence, RI on December 2, 2008.
Taylor had previously reported on his blog that he was going to take a break from Grease and focus his energy and efforts on working on his second album. However, something apparently happened to change his mind since he decided to do this new musical tour. Best of luck to Taylor in his new endeavor!

Season 5 Idol contestant, Ace Young, will be added to the Broadway Grease line-up as he portrays the role of Kenickie. Ace will join the cast on September 9th and will perform with the musical through January 18, 2009. Ace will be coming in just as Taylor Hicks, Season 5 Idol winner, wraps up his role as Teen Angel.
